Overview
To reach the highest peak of biological research and study, Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, Islamic University, Kushtia founded Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering in 1998. The department commenced its academic activities from the academic session 1998-1999 with a view to providing high quality education and research in the field of biotechnology and genetic engineering. Founding Chairman was Prof. Dr. M. Alauddin, a reputed professor and ex-Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University, Kushtia and Prof. Dr Nilufa Akhter Banu is currently serving as the Chairman of the department. At present B.Sc. - 245; M.Sc. - 37; M.Phil. - 3; and Ph.D. – 4 students are studying in the Department and B.Sc. - 426; M.Sc. - 377; M.Phil. - 0; and Ph.D. – 3 students were graduated.
This department has several MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with National and International Organization and Universities to enhance the research scope and make expertise. The students of this departments made their position in home and abroad. We are very pleased to announce that our students getting faculty position in world famous universities. Now this department has established some quality research lab. High quality teachers, students, alumni and sincere staffs are the heart of this department. From the beginning, the department belongs family concept among them.
