IU Delegation Meets Rector of Turku University of Applied Sciences, Finland.
A delegation from Islamic University (IU), Kushtia, Bangladesh, led by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. AKM Motinur Rahman, is undertaking an academic visit to Finland and Sweden from 30 May to 20 June 2026 to strengthen international research collaboration and institutional partnerships. The delegation includes five faculty members from the Department of Public Administration. During the visit, the Vice Chancellor paid a courtesy call on Professor Dr. Vesa Taatila, Rector of Turku University of Applied Sciences (Turku UAS), Finland. The meeting focused on enhancing academic cooperation, expanding collaborative research opportunities, and exploring future institutional partnerships between the two universities. A commemorative gift was presented to the Rector on behalf of Islamic University as a gesture of goodwill and academic friendship. The meeting was attended by Dr. Tuuli Tamminen, Principal Lecturer; Ms. Heli Brander, Project Management Officer; Dr. Nasrin Jahan Jinia, Senior Lecturer; and Dr. Marju Teinikivi, Senior Lecturer, Department of Health and Wellbeing, Turku UAS. The IU delegation comprises Professor Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, Chairman, Department of Public Administration; Professor Dr. Mohammad Selim; Professor Dr. Mohammed Asaduzzaman; Professor Dr. Mohammad Zulfiqur Hossain; and Professor Dr. Md. Lutfor Rahman.
The visit is being conducted under the Erasmus+ project *RESHAPE (Regenerating Socio-Cultural Sustainability and Planetary Wellbeing in Higher Education: Global Partnership), coordinated by Turku UAS in collaboration with the University of Gävle, Sweden, and Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Finland. Islamic University is one of five Bangladeshi universities participating in this international initiative. The visit is expected to contribute significantly to the expansion of IU’s global academic network, the strengthening of international partnerships, and the promotion of research-oriented academic development.
