7th ICSDAP Biennial Conference came to an end today (on 15 September) at IU

7th ICSDAP biennial international conference on "Social Unrest, Peace and Development" came to an end today (on 15 September) at IU. It was a two day conference which began yesterday (on 14 September). International Consortium for Social Development, Asia-Pacific Branch (ICSDAP) and the Department of Social Welfare, Islamic University, Kushtia jointly organized this conference. Two hundred and sixty seven (267) social development, peace and security experts, scholars and researchers took part in the international conference. Among them forty seven (47) sociologists, scholars and researchers were from eight countries of Asia, Europe and Australia. On the first day (on 15 September) there was an inauguration ceremony of the conference which was graced by the Vice Chancellor of IU Professor Dr Rashid Askari (the Chief Patron of the conference), Professor Dr. Profullo C. Sarker (Vice Chancellor, Royal University of Dhaka), Professor Dr. M. Shahinoor Rahman (Patron of the conference and Pro-Vice Chancellor of IU), Professor Dr. Manohar Pawar (Patron of the Conference, President, ICSD and Professor of Social Work, Charles Sturt University, Australia), Professor Dr. Md. Selim Toha (Treasurer of IU), Professor Dr. Asok Kumar Sarkar (Chairperson, ICSDAP and Principal, Institute of Rural Reconstruction, Visva-Bharati University, Sriniketan, India) and Professor Dr. Mamunur Rahman (Professor of the Dept. of English, IU and Conference Coordinator). There was a tea break after this inauguration ceremony. After tea break the Chief Patron of the Conference Professor Dr. Rashid Askari (VC of IU) presented a paper on "Bangladesh: Development in a Decade" while the keynote speaker Professor Dr. Manohar Pawar presented a paper on the main theme of the conference "Social Unrest, Peace and Social Development" in a session. After this session forty one (41) papers were presented by the scholars and researchers of home and abroad in a number of sessions at different venues of IU. The day one ended with a cultural programme. The second day of the conference began with a session bearing the title "Social Development Lecture by Professor Dr. Profulla Chandra Sarkar". This session was chaired by Professor Dr. M Shahinoor Rahman, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of IU. After it there was a panel discussion on "Curriculum of Social Work Education in Bangladesh". Four renowned scholars delivered speech in this session which was presided over by Professor Dr. Monohar Pawar, Professor of Social Work, Charles Sturt University, Australia. This session was followed by the Distribution of Social Development Awards Ceremony. The Chief Patron of the Conference Professor Dr. Rashid Askari distributed this award to four recipients. After it twenty-five (25) papers were presented by the scholars and researchers of home and abroad at different venues of IU.
